Green-led Hythe Town Council’s efforts to improve playgrounds in the area have been well-received by the community. Not only have they upgraded play equipment, but they have also taken the initiative to involve residents in the decision-making process. This level of community engagement ensures that the new play equipment is reflective of the needs and preferences of local families, and that it is something that everyone can enjoy.

Councillors Jenni Hawkins and Anita Jones took their school-age kids on a tour of the council’s playgrounds at Horn Street and Burmarsh Road (Palmarsh) to get an overview of the equipment at each location. The council then ran consultations with the community and even gave residents the choice of which equipment to install.

The latest upgrades are at Palmarsh Recreation Ground which is which easy reach on foot from Martello Lakes and the Bird Estate.

These playgrounds are a valuable resource for the community, and their upgrades and ongoing maintenance ensures that they will continue to provide enjoyment for years to come.

There are so many great things that come from playing! For kids, playing helps them grow up healthy in their minds and bodies, and it lets them be creative and learn new things. Plus, playing with others is a great way to make friends and feel like they belong in their town or city.
