Hythe Town Council, North Ward
Like my husband Ed, I am delighted to be a green councillor representing my home area in the north ward of Hythe.
A native of Northern Ireland, I came to know and love Hythe because my daughter and her family live and work in the area. Now I am pleased to have my own home here and to be able to participate in the care of my young grandson. I also have a son who lives in London.
In Northern Ireland I trained as a teacher, then as a child and educational psychologist, and worked within the school psychology service in the specialist areas of hearing impairment and emotional and behavioural difficulty. Eventually I moved into a management role within the Education Authority for Northern Ireland establishing and managing training and resources for all young people with SEBD (Social Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) . I retired in 2017.
In Belfast I volunteered with the Samaritans.
I am a keen participant in several sports and currently am enjoying membership of Hythe Tennis club. I am especially keen to promote engagement in sport amongst young people .
I am a keen gardener.
I am delighted to live in Hythe where there is not only great heritage and history but where there are also a wealth of outdoor amenities It will be my aim to work to develop and protect the natural resources of Hythe and to assist members of the community of all ages to find ways to enjoy the resources of the area .
I look forward to playing a role in Hythe council and within the green party. I believe the green party is so very well placed to influence and promote a better way forward.
