Real hope. real change.

Free from corporate funding and influence

We’re fully funded by our members, so we can always represent and protect the needs of ordinary people, not corporate donors.

policies 100% decided by our members

All policy is decided by a popular vote of Green Party members. Unlike other parties, our leadership can’t overturn the will of its members.

No whip – always Free to represent local people

Green representatives are not forced to tow the party line, meaning councillors can vote with their conscience and take local concerns into account.

Opportunities for supporters to get involved

You do not need to be a Green Party member to get involved with the local party. Check out the options below or get in touch to find out how you can get involved locally.

Attend Green Party events

We hold events throughout the year for members and supporters, to bring together Greens in the local community. They’re a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, hear about recent achievements from our councillors, and find out what we’re all about.

Join the local volunteer network

Our local volunteer WhatsApp group allows Green supporters and members to keep up with opportunities to get involved with election campaigns, branch meetings, social events and any other local party activities.

Delivering newsletters & leaflets

We always need people to help us deliver leaflets during election campaigns, and newsletters to keep in touch with residents outside of election times. It’s a great chance to meet fellow volunteers, get out and about, and clock up some healthy steps while spreading the word.

Donate

If you don’t have much spare time at the moment, but would still like to help, why not make a donation? Your money will help us stand more candidates and fight more campaigns across the local area.

Share your specialist skills

Running a local political party involves all sorts of skills. Communications, organisation, design, people skills, event planning, baking… whatever your skillset, you will be an asset to us.

Community organising

Our members and councillors are heavily involved in their local communities – you can get involved with activities we already run, such as litterpicks and demonstrations to stand up for local services, or work with us to start something new.

Fundraise for campaigns

If you have experience with events or fundraising, your work could help us raise funds to stand more councillors, and fight more campaigns across the local area.

Opportunities for Green Party members

As a Green Party member, you’re eligible to stand for election, join special interest groups and get even more involved with the party. Check out the options below or get in touch to find out how you can get involved.

Stand for Election

We can’t win elections without enthusiastic, committed and hard-working candidates. We are particularly keen to ensure diversity amongst our candidates.

Candidates must be full members of the Green Party and support its main aims and policies.

Green Special Interest Groups

The Green Party has a range of self-organising Special Interest Groups, including LGBTIQA+ Greens, Green Party Disability Group, Greens for Animal Protection and many others.

Groups are open to all Green Party members to join, and anyone can subscribe to emails to hear from Greens nationally who share your interests.

Propose party policy

The Green Party is a fully-democratic political party, meaning that any member can propose changes to party policy. If your suggestion gains enough support, it will be voted on by all members, and become party policy with a majority vote.

If this is something that interests you, we can support you in how to how to get started.

Attend branch meetings

The best way for our members to stay informed about all the work going on in the party and in local councils is to attend our regular branch meeting. We often have guest speakers on local topics of interest.

We hold branch meetings every couple of months, in different locations around the district. Check out our upcoming meetings and come along.
