Last night a climate and ecological emergency motion with a zero carbon date of 2030 was passed at Folkestone & Hythe District Council. It was brought by our Green Party councillor Georgina Treloar (below). The motion includes the setting up of a cross-party working group to map out a Carbon Action Plan. The Tories amended the motion so that it was referred to the Overview & Scrutiny committee.
The District council joins 100+ other councils around the country in declaring such an emergency and committing to a zero carbon target. It follows on from a similar motion that was brought and past at Hythe Town Council, among other in Kent to have taken this important step.
