Hythe Town Council, South Ward
I moved to Hythe in 1992, together with my family, in order to work on the Channel Tunnel project – I am now retired and our two children are approaching middle age.
I spent my whole career in the field of transport and logistics and have been involved with bus service planning, supply chain management, haulage companies and railways.
In parallel with my civilian career I served for 26 years as a logistician in the Territorial Army.
While living in Hythe I have been involved with the 1st Hythe Scout Group, the Hythe & District Photographic Club (as chairman), the Rotary Club, the Hythe Community Festival (as Chairman) the British Legion and the Kent & East Sussex Railway where I am a volunteer Station Master at Tenterden. I am a keen musician and as well as performing occasionally as a solo guitarist/singer, I am one of a merry band who provide musical accompaniment for the Romney Marsh Morris Side.
I consider Hythe to be a wonderful place to live and to have brought up a family and my aim, as an elected councillor, is to be part of a team that recognises the need for – and the inevitability of – change whilst ensuring that development is undertaken sympathetically so that the essence of our town and its community remains strong and unchanging.
